Tips and tricks on how to use library resources and services

Using ProQuest Ebook Central

ProQuest EBook Central is Exeter Health Library's primary source of e-books.

We have purchased over 95 titles, all of which you can search and browse online here:

https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/exeterhealthnhs
(NHS OpenAthens login required)

You can also search and browse the whole ProQuest EBL book catalog.

Here are some subject groupings which you may find useful.

Health
Medicine
Nursing
Pharmacy
Psychology

You can filter your search to titles owned by the Library by ticking this box on the left-hand side of your screen:

undefined

Titles that the Library hasn't purchased are available for a 5 minute browsing period, where you can access the whole content of the book.

If you would like access to the e-book for longer, click on the Request button and provide your contact details, and the Library team will view your request and either:

  • Provide temporary access to the title (called Short Term Loan), this can be for between 1-4 weeks and it will only be available to you individually.
  • Purchase a digital copy - if the title is likely to be useful to a number of staff, the Library may purchase a digital copy, which will then be available for all staff to read.
  • Source a print copy from another library for you via our Document Supply Service (if the cost of Short Term Loan or Purchase is too expensive).

Library staff will be in touch to let you know which option will be available to you.
